So i guess i will just get started, my name is Michelle Silke Cooper. I am a hairdresser, a wife and a mother. I live in Castlerea, Co. Roscommon and i am launching my new business from my home called SILKE HAIR, which is a hairdressing salon but i am also treating all aspects of hair loss.

Just a little over a year ago i started the process of setting up a salon in my home. This all came about because i started suffering with severe shoulder pain whilst working as a hairdresser. I have been a hairdresser since 2004 and cutting a long story short i was advised to change my job! Ah, not an option. I have never known anything else, and i have invested a lot into myself over the years to be where i am, AND i love my job! So, after cutting back my hours and days working i soon realized that this pain was not going away.

This all coincided with the arrival of my second child. (insert hair loss here) Whilst contemplating setting up from home to minimize the impact of my injury, i started suffering from Postpartum Hair Loss. Of course i was oblivious to this as i have an older child and i had not experienced this before. But BANG!! here it was. So you would think that as a hairdresser i would have the best knowledge of what to do next, but unfortunately our training is basic in the sense that we touch on certain subjects, learning basics, and its very individual as to how far you carry on with it yourself. Hair loss was not a subject i focused on. Until now!

Until i started studying more about it, i was very ignorant to this epidemic. I was suddenly exposed to the wide range of hair loss that people are suffering from on a daily basis. So this is when i decided that i was going to offer my knowledge, my skills and my research to help anyone who is suffering.

So i am currently running Silke Hair from my home. It is in a very private, warm, welcoming and friendly setting where i am first and foremost a hairdresser, but i am now trained as a Hair Loss Specialist who provides Wigs and Hair Replacement Systems among other things. I will be providing information on all aspects of the products and services i provide with each new post. I am involved in new training all the time because i want to be able to provide the best possible service to people and that sometimes comes from different companies so training with individual company is essential for me to provide everyone with the best services.

This blog is going to serve the purpose of me providing information to everyone without long winded social media posts. (social media pages coming soon) I will be writing posts on all types of hair and scalp issues, different types of hair loss, and all types of product that are available to help combat these issues. I have spent countless hours over the last year researching and trialing different natural, organic, vegan, and essential oil based products because i am on the hunt to find the most natural products available to help people so that we do not have to consider side effects to our health or consider side effects of medications that most people are taking on a daily basis.

I really hope that i can help people understand hair loss, why it is happening and what can we do about it. Lets get rid of the idea that we have to hide hair loss and lets figure out how to combat it..
